Treasury= Main Petra, Monastery- at the very end
Jordan pass = free admission
- They print you a Petra specific ticket
- After admission= you will never have to show again!
Opens at 6am GO EARLY- hardly anyone there
BRING LOTS OF WATER- real hot by midday
Shops, concessions bathrooms along main trail and treasury
Spending too much time @ Treasury= too hot to get to Monastery
Lot of stray dogs in the valley

After entrance= heckled from start to finish: How to deal with Hustlers HERE
- DO NOT show ticket they’ll ask as a trick
- Harassed for camel, donkey rides. “take you to the view”

30min walk to treasury- couple sites enroute but hurry to avoid crowd
Early enough= will not have people in the background of your pics
Ask fellow travelers to take pics- do not let hustlers they’ll try to $$$
If you want to go to one of the top viewpoints/lookouts
- You technically do not need to pay- you can walk up yourself
- It does help tho- plus they’ll take your pics
- Negotiate- they will start high. We paid 10DNR per person
- CONFIRM it is round trip not one way

Staying on main trail will take another 30 min to Monastery without stops
Highly recommend going straight to Monastery then stops on way back
- It will get extremely hot later in the day
Along main trail- endless side trails and attractions
- Royal Thombs, Theater, Church, Great Temple
Main trail ends with a town like area with shops right before Monastery trail
- Stop at restaurants before/after Monastery (have wifi)
- Main restaurant= Basin, but cheaper one next door= Nabatean
