NARROWS

Permit: no

Distance– 2miles- easy to medium depending on water

Trailhead /Shuttle stop: Temple of Sinawava Bus Station #9 (last stop)

Renting gear

  • Zion Outfitter- located at Springdale shuttle visitor center drop off
  • MUST do- rent boots and walking pole. Narrows gear reservations-
    • only hold reservation until 10am. NOT required (they never run out)
  • You will see everyone who didn’t get gear constantly fall and wish they did
  • Regular trekking poles don’t work cuz rocks
  • Can get gear the day before if you want to hike early before the store opens
  • The dry bag can be overkill, not necessary

FYI

  • Water levels/current depend on time of year, recent storms or just random
  • One year only came to my waist, another came up to my chest
  • Can get flash flood warnings- if it starts raining turn back
  • Gets super crowded by the afternoon
  • Long line for the shuttle after you’re done to get home

THE HIKE

  • From shuttle stop- short paved path to water entry- follow the crowd
  • Depending on water current=depends visibility of huge rocks in water
    • Which is why the water boots and pole are important
  • Brief deep end early on- you’ll see a small “waterfall” (more like stream) on the right side
  • After a while the views all look the same- no real end viewpoint. Just turn back when you want
