Permit
- REQUIRED: Angels landing permit lottery
- Seasonally: apply 1-3mo prior desired date and Day before lottery- not likely
- Permits issued with start times: before or after 9am
- Rangers always checking permits, hefty fine if caught
FYI
- Come up and down the same way so have to step aside when there’s space
- Earlier start the better and less crowded (even with permit system)
- Gloves can help grip chains especially if its cold
- Make sure you have good traction on your shoes
- Lot of chipmunks/squirrels that aren’t afraid of humans-will steal your food
THE HIKE
- Starts with long paved switchbacks, great view of the valley- last portion best
- Leads to the “wiggles”- very short switchbacks leading all the way up
- “Scouts Lookout” last part before chains.
- Open area with porta potys, Rangers permit check
