  • Gloves can help grip chains especially if its cold
  • Make sure you have good traction on your shoes
  • Lot of chipmunks/squirrels that aren’t afraid of humans-will steal your food

THE HIKE

  1. Starts with long paved switchbacks, great view of the valley- last portion best
  2. Leads to the “wiggles”- very short switchbacks leading all the way up
  3. “Scouts Lookout” last part before chains.
    • Open area with porta potys,  Rangers permit check
  4. CHAINS part 1
  5. Little bit of an open space- best scenic photos
  6. Chains part 2
  7. Once you reach the trees you are at the peak
