Intro
- Difficulty: Medium- 5.7 mi. Takes 4-5hrs- steep uphill steps
- Name brands: Vernal falls, Nevada Falls
- Parking: Yosemite Valley Trailhead Parking. Shuttle stop #16
- Trailhead: Same trailhead for Mist & John Muir
- Half mile walk from parking/shuttle
- Also the start of HALF DOME
***Best of both: hike up Mist Trail, hike down John Muir***
FYI
- Steep, 600+ steps uphill
- Going to get wet- bring poncho!
- Very crowded- go early morning
MIST TRAIL: THE HIKE
- 1/2 mile to trailhead- Paved incline to bridge (last bathroom and water fill)
- Then ENDLESS stairs to Vernon Falls
- Can eventually hop the rail to get closer to falls
- Top of Vernon falls is large open area with a small lake to jump in
- Eventually cross bridge and continue on
- Forest covering then some switchbacks
- Nevada Falls
- Turn back either the way to you came- or easier down John Muir
Mist trail vs John Muir
- Both end up at Nevada falls- but offer different view points
- Connects midway at clark point if you wana turn around early
- John Muir
- Slightly longer, but less incline with gradual switchbacks
- Won’t get wet
- Less popular/crowded
- All trails shows as 200 miles- ignore
