Timeline
- 3 hr drive from Cusco (breakfast then lunch stop in between)
- Limited time at top due to altitude
- You will have a headache afterwards from change in altitude
- 12hr day for about 30-40min at the top
The Hike
- 2hrs up and 1 hr back
- 80% of hike is gradual flat
- Last 20% is steep uphill- altitude makes it harder
- Bathrooms and food stands along hike- cash only
- Freezing until Sun comes up
- Can pay for a local to take you via horse 90% of the way
- Reach top then there’s small climb to platform with the sign
- PIC TIP: Best pictures as you climb up to the sign platform
- Afterwards can add on short Red Valley trail for 30 soles CASH ONLY
